Michael Anastassiades was schooled in industrial design and engineering at London’s Royal College of Art and Imperial College. The Cypriot born designer is particularly known for his lighting that reside between industrial design, sculpture and art. Simple, yet meticulously detailed, they betray his training as a civil engineer and industrial designer. Shiny surfaces are combined with simple geometric shapes like tubes, oblongs and spheres. His choice of materials include mirrored glass and polished bronze that appear to dematerialize his objects to float, interacting with the space surrounding them. Anastassiades has permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art, MAK, FRAC France and The Victoria and Albert Museum.
Mr. Anastassides opened his design studio in 1994 and joined Ralph Pucci in 2013.
